I'm Charlotte and founded OTKids in 2016, following 10 years within the NHS. OTKids has now been running for 8 years moving from London to Berkshire.
First and foremost I'm a mum. I have two children, one of whom I have supported and continue to support through their own SEN journey. They are my biggest joy and biggest headache every single day! So if you're local you'll probably see me out and about in full mum mode with coffee at various soft plays, playgrounds and playgroups! Please do stop and say hi.
Secondly I'm a therapist who has always been passionate about supporting children with additional needs. My journey started at 15 years old when I volunteered at a special needs play scheme- to stop my parents nagging about finding a summer job if I remember correctly! Little did I know that those few weeks would shape my career.
I went on to do this each year and 3 years later at 18 found myself studying OT at Canterbury Christ Church University- graduating in 2006. I have specialised in Paediatrics since 2008, following junior rotations within busy community hospitals.
Over the years I worked my way through the NHS from a junior band 5 therapist to a band 8a supporting a group of special schools within the Richmond Upon Thames area, having managed the OT team within the same borough.
I have completed many courses over the years and worked with many children, gaining knowledge in NDT and SI as well as specialist seating and splinting.
In 2020 as a family we headed down the M3 to Berkshire, where OTKids is now based. As the business and my family grew (2 dogs were added to the mix) it became a juggle to manage the administration as well as the clinical. So onboard came another Charlotte- Charlotte English. Or Char as you may get to know her! More from Char coming soon!
